  • Fleet

    In the northern part of the Crondall Hundred, Fleet was originally heathland. When the Blue Triangle's south east was sold in 1882 for development which, in a grid pattern was laid out, unlike the Blue Triangle, the development of Fleet accelerated. Bringing its population up to around 35,000, a 20% increase in less than a decade, Elvetham Heath is one of the UK's largest housing developments, which has added some 3,500 inhabitants to Fleet's population completed in 2008.

    A notable beauty spot on the northern edge is the Fleet Pond nature reserve. From London and Southampton, Fleet can be reached. Built at the end of the eighteenth century, Basingstoke Canal connected Fleet to Basingstoke and London via the Wey navigation in the other direction.

  • Investigating Fleet

    Available in local shops, the press are the Fleet News & Mail and the Star Courier of Surrey-Hants, a tabloid that is free delivered to the door. Retired army officers, this attracted a number of gentry, who moved to the area bounded by Fleet, Elvetham and Reading Road North and laid the foundations of what was to become known as "The Blue Triangle". With areas that are residential at Ancells Farm being built, Elvetham Heath and Zebon Copse (Church Crookham in the area that is built-up per the Government Statistical Service is included), Fleet has expanded in the past decades.

    With Victorian and Edwardian buildings, landmarks are Fleet Pond, Hampshire's freshwater lake that is largest and its broad HS. The Hart Shopping Centre, which was opened by HRH The York Duchess and Hitches Lane's Leisure Centre of Hart (towards Church Crookham) include earlier developments in Fleet that involved a double opening on 10 May 1991.

    Church Crookham and Crookham Village with, to form the Urban District of Fleet and Church Crookham, Fleet Rural Parish and Church Crookham being merged and include the parish of Crookham that was split into two in 1904. Used in preparation for the London Marathon and an athletics club, Fleet & Crookham AC, Fleet has a half marathon.
